I don't normally enjoy eating vegetables (does anyone?), but I have been able to incorporate them into my diet by using a rice cooker to make rice and steamed vegetables (at the same time) which is pretty tasty if you add a sauce to it.

To me, the author of this quote is trying to make the point that you can't control what others perceive about you and so don't worry about it. I think that can certainly be useful, but I think that line of thought shouldn't absolve someone of facing (deserving) consequences for their actions. There's difference between "I want to have pink hair and I don't care if other people at the supermarket look at me funny," and "I punched you in the face and I can't control how you react to that so it doesn't concern me, bye."
